The Inter RAO Group has commissioned the Zatonskaya TPP (branch of Bashkirskaya Generating Company). The new power plant consists of two power units with the total power generation capacity of 440 MW and the total heat generation capacity of 290 Gcal/h. The TPP uses the advanced Russian-built combined cycle equipment with high efficiency using the natural gas as the main fuel.
The new TPP will reduce the shortage of power generation capacity in the Ufa generating system, create additional opportunities for connection of new energy-intensive consumers and increase the reliability of power supply. According to the heating scheme for Ufa approved by the order of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Zatonskaya TPP will be the basic source of thermal power for the prospective development area in the capital of Bashkortostan.
Construction works at the site of the Zatonskaya TPP started in late 2008, but in 2010 the project was mothballed by the previous owner of the energy company due to the absence of mechanisms for return of investments. In 2012, the Inter RAO Group which became the owner of the Bashkir generating system used every effort to resume the construction. As a result, the Government of the Russian Federation included the Zatonskaya TPP in a list of power generating facilities that will be used for power delivery.
“Completion of the modern combined cycle Zatonskaya TPP is an important step in implementation of one of strategic lines in the Inter RAO Group development connected with efficiency improvement of its heating business,” said Boris KOVALCHUK, Chairman of the Management Board, Inter RAO. “Growth of power generation capacity in the region is a milestone event for Bashkiria, where power plants with such a large capacity have not been commissioned since the 1970s.”
